Dear Readers,
I would like to share the following reminders about self-respect, healthy boundaries, and personal growth.
- Stop looking for people who are not looking for you.
- Stop begging for attention, love, or acceptance.
- Stop saying more than is necessary.
- When people disrespect you, address it immediately.
- Do not consume more of other people's resources than they are willing to share.
- Reduce visits to people who make little or no effort to visit or connect with you in return.
- Invest in yourself and prioritize your happiness and well-being.
- Avoid engaging in or entertaining gossip about others.
- Think before you speak. Much of how people perceive and value you is influenced by your words.
- Always present yourself well. Dress in a manner that reflects how you want to be treated.
- Be productive and work toward your goals.
- Value your time and use it wisely.
- Do not remain in relationships where you feel disrespected, undervalued, or unappreciated. Have the courage to walk away.
- Learn to spend on yourself and invest in your personal growth.
- Do not always be available. Give yourself permission to be unavailable at times.
- Strive to be a giver more than a receiver.
- Do not go where you are not invited, and when invited, do not overstay your welcome.
- Treat people with fairness and respect while maintaining healthy boundaries.
- Unless someone owes you money or there is an emergency, two call attempts are usually enough. If they value your communication, they will return your call when they are able.
Final Thought
Self-respect begins with setting healthy boundaries, valuing your time, investing in your growth, and surrounding yourself with people who appreciate and respect you. When you respect yourself, you set the standard for how others should treat you.
Thank you for reading.
Sincerely yours,
Benito L. Mabeza, CPA
